ARTIST INFORMATION
“My work speaks to my obsession with our intricate and complex relationship with nature. My pieces are an expression of the intersection between art and science. My work has always been concerned with two things, the scientific approach to observing our environment and the aesthetics results of what we discover. How science expresses the nature of things and how a carefully-crafted aesthetic can reveal the nature of beauty.”
Through a juxtaposition of natural forms and geometric rigidity, yomarie silva-o’neal commands viewer’s attention using organic shapes layered over mechanical images of man-made vessels. Her work re-examines the intricacy and complexity of our relationship with nature and is comprised of artworks that express the intersection between art and science. The pieces express the presence of science in nature and explore how a carefully-crafted aesthetic can reveal beauty’s core. This scientific and artistic journey illuminates what is often implicit, thereby giving us a distilled understanding and knowledge of the essence of our world.
